About this tool

Not every situation calls for sharing the entire document. A 40-page contract might need just pages 12–15 sent to a vendor. A 200-page scan of a textbook might need individual chapters broken out for study. ToolkitFlow's PDF Splitter handles these cases with three distinct modes: extract a specific set of pages by clicking thumbnails, define custom page ranges like '1-5, 8, 11-15', or explode the entire PDF into one file per page for maximum flexibility.

The three modes cover meaningfully different workflows. Extract Pages is the fastest option when you know exactly which pages you want — click thumbnails, click Download. Custom Ranges suits scenarios where the document has a clear structure and you want to produce multiple named sections in one pass. Split All Pages is most useful for batch-scanned documents where each page is a separate record — bank statements, identity scans, or archived correspondence — that you need to reorganize or file individually.

Common Use Cases

  • Sending specific contract pages to a vendor without sharing the full negotiation document
  • Extracting a signed certificate or ID page from a multi-page scan package
  • Breaking a downloaded textbook into individual chapters for study or sharing
  • Separating a batch-scanned stack of invoices into individual files for accounting
  • Isolating the first page of a report as a one-page executive summary PDF

Privacy & Security

All PDF processing runs directly in your browser using WebAssembly and pdf-lib. Your files are never uploaded to any server — everything is processed locally on your device, so your documents remain completely private even without an internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I specify which pages to extract in Custom Ranges mode?

Type page numbers and ranges separated by commas — for example, '1-5, 8, 10-15'. The syntax is the same as a standard print dialog. Pages are extracted in the order you specify.

Can I extract non-consecutive pages?

Yes. In Extract Pages mode, click any combination of thumbnails regardless of their position in the document. In Custom Ranges mode, list them as comma-separated values such as '1, 3, 7-9'.

How do I receive multiple output files?

When your split produces more than one PDF, all files are packaged into a single ZIP archive that downloads with one click. A single-page or single-range extraction downloads as a direct PDF.

Does splitting affect the quality of the pages?

No. Pages are copied directly from the source PDF without re-encoding. Text, images, and formatting in the output are identical to the original.

Does the tool work with password-protected PDFs?

No — encrypted PDFs cannot be read by the splitter. Remove the password using an unlock tool first, then re-upload the unlocked file.
